It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.
