Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
