Large-scale Russian Assaults Cut Power In Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and faced disruption to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing protection systems and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and over thirty rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the urban area experienced significant strikes overnight. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks succeed periods of aerial attacks in the area, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to detect.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were bracing for further attacks.
